Tulips

Pink Tulips

Tulips

Right now I am working on 4 small florals.
The two above are painted on yupo.  This was my first time to work on yupo.  Working on it's slick, nonabsorbant surface with watercolor is a very different experience.  The most amazing thing is no matter how much water I put on it, the yupo stays perfectly flat and smooth without even the smallest ripple.  The paint sits on top, it wipes off very easily, even unintentionally.

  1. These tulips work well, Liana. You may use them to have more cards printed!

  2. I have never heard of Yupo. I really like the effect though. It has a really 'watery' feel :0)

  5. Sandra, I learned of yupo by reading other artists' blogs and watercolor magazines. I had bought a sheet of yupo last spring, but, I just now pulled it out to paint on it. I have tried clayboard and did not like it and I knew yupo would / could be similar.

  6. Jennifer, you are so sweet. Thank you so much. I bet if you try some tulips on yupo or anything else. They will come out well. I do not dare post the first tulips I painted in 1998. Oh, my, they look like a 4 year old did them. However, I have kept the painting. I am greatly embarrassed when I look at it alone.
